As an excuse to play with a new “toy” (a 360-degree action camera), John Shirley shot and edited the video. John is the Founding Director of the ensemble, and coordinator of the Composition for New Media program.
This was a socially distanced project, shot completely outdoors and utilizing a green screen and a warped perspective camera making players look much closer together than they were.
Born Under a Bad Sign was recorded and made famous by Albert King. The lyrics are by William Bell and the music by Booker T. Jones (Stax Records bandleader).

This performance of Sammy Rae’s “Kick it To Me” was performed by the group Off Broadway. The band consists of current and past UML students including Mia Farwell on vocals, Peter Lavina on guitar, Jake Mall on drums, Justin Hahn on trombone and engineering, Tim Weisman on bass, and Brad Aiken on tenor saxophone.
