A Fall 2020 semester project for the UMass Lowell Blues Ensemble by Dirty River Blues Band.

Caleb Rawlinson – Bari Sax
Spencer Roach – Bass
Evan Smith – Tenor Sax
Rachel Sullivan – Flute
Jackson Winders – Trumpet

Mix Engineer – Anthony Adario
Each performer recorded their own parts; Anthony Adario collected, edited and mixed them.

Video – John Shirley
As an excuse to play with a new “toy” (a 360-degree action camera), John Shirley shot and edited the video. John is the Founding Director of the ensemble, and coordinator of the Composition for New Media program.

This was a socially distanced project, shot completely outdoors and utilizing a green screen and a warped perspective camera making players look much closer together than they were.

Born Under a Bad Sign was recorded and made famous by Albert King. The lyrics are by William Bell and the music by Booker T. Jones (Stax Records bandleader).
